The Hamlet of Cape Dorset commissioned Concentric’s geoscience group to assess the state of its metals disposal site and provide management options to bring the site into compliance with applicable environmental legislation. The project involved a desktop review of all existing information on the disposal site, an on-site waste characterization survey to ascertain the types and amounts of materials present, and an options analysis for site mitigation. The overall process also involved extensive liaison with the Hamlet’s Mayor and council to discuss the background and determine feasibility of possible remedial options.
