Concentric’s geoscience team provided rapid response, assessment and remediation consultation services and liaison with regulatory officials for a heating oil leak at a commercial building in the community of Igloolik. A remedial action plan involving excavation of impacted soil for placement in lined soil bags and the installation of a granular activated carbon water treatment system was tailored to meet the challenges of the site location, time limitations and harsh climate. To support the forensic analysis of the cause and origin of the heating oil loss, Concentric’s geoscience specialists were also able to estimate the duration of the leak and transport mechanisms by developing a site-specific contaminant flow model.
