Completed for the City of Saskatoon
The City of Saskatoon retained Concentric’s geoscience group to undertake a hydrogeological investigation of a former snow dump east of the Peggy McKercher Conservation Area in the northeastern part of the city. The hydrogeological characterization was required to determine its suitability for development due to an assumed high water table associated with low-lying topography, exaggerated by past gravel extraction and snow dumping. Concentric’s geoscience team provided a thorough interpretation and commentary on soil and hydrogeologic conditions as they related to the suitability of the site for single-family septic systems with weeping beds, the potential for on-site buildings to have full-depth basements and any necessary precautions that should be taken regarding water infiltration.
